I think it would be cool too! I feel like Patty and Teresa are celebs around here, and I would love to meet them and others!!![/b]
hehe, i feel that "celeb" thing about certain people here, too!

it would be fun. imagine, way down the road, when there are soooo many more members, too. wow, that would be something.

and i vote michigan. patty and teresa are here, and so am I! [/b]
I was talking to Teresa today and said how about we have it in Grand Rapids Michigan so I don't have to drive very far. LOL. But that is not a very exciting town. Seriously, I would love to do something like this. I just have to get a little more organized to put something like this together. Bring this back up in a few months. Maybe we can get some planning together on it by then.
[/b]
Grand Rapids?!?!?!? I live in Grand Rapids. I have a few girls in my DDC that are all from Michigan, and we are trying to plan a get-together right now, how FUN!!! And of course, I vote for Grand Rapids too

What about getting a booth at the many baby/child expos there are all over the states? There was just one in San Antonio, Texas in March that my DH's hobby group got together and had a booth at. Then people in a particular state could all meet up at that expo and you could do fun games and there would be speakers from all over. At the Expo we went to there were people from Huggies, Pampers, Luvs, Medela, Advent, Gerber, Enfamil, local stores and hospitals, Kellogg, Lionheart, etc.

I know there are two locations for the Healthy Baby and Child Expo next year in Texas. DH's hobby group plans to get togehter and have a booth there again (and so I will be there too most likely).

Something like that would be a start - it would promote JM (we could have magnets, business cards, etc to hand out). Then we could move into a Convention when there was more time to organize something so big.

Edited to add.....maybe in the beginning we could have mini conventions for different regions.

actually, the first time i read the title of this, i assumed the OP was referring to numerous little events around the us/canada/wherever. it certainly wouldn't HAVE to be one big one, but it might be a bit more fun, and more successful. if it were to happen in grand rapids, perhaps we could aim for next may-june-ish, when it's not yet TOO hot, and set up something for a weekend? seems almost like we can get the ball rolling with this. eventually, anyway.

I think this is a great idea but i think it would be hard to get some of the people that live farther away to come. I would have to vote for it though I think its a great Idea.. I just wish there was a way EVERYONE could be included. KWIM?

ETA: Maybe we could have voulenteers make scrap books of the convention and then send them out to the ones who weren't able to come? I would be interested in voulenteering for something like that down the road when this gets going.

OOOO what a cool idea!! I'd LOVE this!

I vote Denver Colorado. Hehe, just had to throw that out there... I mean, come on, the Rocky Mountains in the background, the new Denver Convention Center they put up in downtown... the close proximity to my house... lol okay I'll stop.

OK! This is one of the best ideas!!!!! It is definitely something that would have to be promoted for a long time.

I live in California and we have many many many convention centers (even by Disneyland)! I would love to help orginize something for this and spread the word and help people find fares and get good rates!!!!!

Patty and teresa! I definitely think maybe a 3 or 4 year anniversary!!!

You know... Vegas isn't a bad idea. Because the casino's make all their money w/ the gambling, they have cheap rates there year round, and the it's always cheaper to fly to Vegas then it is to fly anywhere else (again - because the big casinos give all these incentives and discounts so they can get you there to loose your money to their slot machines - lol).

Plus, Vegas obviously has the room to hold a large number of people for a convention, and a lot of the casinos (like the MGM Grand, circus circus, etc.) have amusment parks that the kids would love.

I went to Vegas when I was 10 and loved it - hehe. (And since I was there, my mom didn't really bother with any gambling, since I was in tow the whole time and the casino people always pitch a fit when a minor is on the floor near the slots etc.)

There could be two. One in the west and one in the east. That may make it easier for more to make it. The only problem is that everyone doesn't meet everyone unless you can go to both!
