I am glad you figured it out. You can also subscribe to forums but don't subscribe to get email reminders unless you are prepared to get a lot of emails.

oh--how do you mark forums read? I've been trying to figure that out since I joined, lol

On the Bottom of the Message Board main page.. right above the list of the member currently online, there is a place to click all messages read
