I was wondering.. with people, we sometimes get carried away with the girls here we love and trust.. For financial issues the same thing could apply.. Would it be a good idea or a bad idea to make the budgeting/financial area a private forum too? I know I've had to stop myself from posting too much yet I know I trust the gals here... Does this request make sense?

i agree....i was thinking the same thing. I tend to avoid some of the topics, so I dont accidentally get carried away and reveal too much personal info there.

It takes a lot of time for us to make these boards private. Each forum that is private requires an administrator to manually give each member access. We are trying to reserve the private forums for ones that are very sensitive or to keep lurkers to the site from viewing. I can see your point of view but I really think with financial issues it would probably be a good idea to be discrete with what you share online. Even if it is a private forum other members at JM could have access to it.

Here are some ideas that you could do to get financial advice. Maybe you could start a mystery mom on that board where you could ask financial questions once a week? Just a suggestion. I will try to think of some other ideas. Another thing we could do is make a password protected subforum where the host is responsible for giving out the password. This is not as secure but would require less work on our administrators.

I think the private subforum is a good idea, I would take on responsibility giving out passwords.

Yeah... a protected subforum would be a nice idea. I help a lot of people with specific problems via pm. I know we have a lot of lurkers and people who just want "general" advice though, so I don't think making the board private is a good idea.
