Would that fall under the Children with special needs/diabilities forum? My son was born with a birth defect and I think it would be great to have a board for discussion, support, as well as information about the various birth defects that babies can be born with. Just a suggestion!

I think it would be a good idea. The ladies in due date clubs are always curious about birth defects when they go through the first round of blood tests and u/s. Some BTDT moms can enlighten them about what challenges they may face. Moms can share their experiences/frustrations with each other as well. I hope I never have to join, but it's a great idea, and I'd want to share if I felt the need.

I think it's a good idea. If that ever happened to me, I'd want an area of support specifically for that.

Thanks ladies for the support of the idea! My son has bilateral club feet with metatarsal addversions, we'll be starting treatment soon so I'm not sure if he is considered a special needs baby since he is expected to be fine after a year of castings/ect. I just really wish we had a board that offered support to mommies with children born with birth defects such as cleft lip, club feet, hypospadias, heart defects, and other structural abnormalities. So I hope it is considered!

At first, the docs thought Ben had clubbed feet, but he didn't. He did have scoliosis, torticollis, and windswept hips/feet. You should check out the developmental delays board. What you're describing tells me you'll probably be doing therapy for quite a while like we have with Ben. If it weren't for the therapy, he wouldn't be keeping up with his milestones as well as he has. He's worked HARD! He's still behind, but not nearly as much as he was at birth.

My son {youngest one in my siggy} was born with several birth defects & I just posted on the special needs board. I think it will be a good home!
