DH and I didn't have a real wedding and have like 5 pictures from that day. Basically we said for our 5 year anniversary we would have a wedding or reception type party. Well it's not going to happen (it just feels awkward).

So my thought was maybe have professional pictures take of us in our wedding gear. But is that super weird too? I just hate not having any good memories of that day, besides actually getting married. Anyways, our 5 years is in September so I'm trying to figure it all out. Just looking for honest suggestions.

I dont' think it's weird at all. And I don't think a party (that isn't over the top) would be weird (unless you showed up in wedding attire as a surprise- that might be odd.)

People do trash the dress sessions, vow renewals, elopements with parties afterwards. I see no reason why you can't get dolled up and have some nice pictures taken!

Thanks ladies! I think we will eventually have a vow renewed but from what I hear that is normally done at 25 years.

I'm going to email some photographers and see what our options are because I obviously don't want to pay a wedding price because it won't be anywhere near that big of a session.

I totally think you can have a party... Not weird at all... Invites could be worded to say how excited you are to finally celebrate your wedding blah blah. I also don't think it's weird to have pics done. I actually don't have a single shot of me alone in my dress and I think about it all the time, about how I want to pay someone to take a few of just me. If you did a renewal which I believe you can do anytime (we did a mini renewal on our 2 yr anny with the reverend who married us on the beach just us and the kids) you could get dressed up and get good shots I say go for it! Who cares what society says!
