Ugh, trying desperately to come up with names...I'm getting so frustrated.

So, quick question. My last name starts with an "L" and ends with and "N." Most of the names I like either end with an "L" or an "N." To me, it sounds kind of strange to say them together since it's either the same sound repeated right away (like Will L...) or the names end in the same sound (like Owen L.....N). Am I Just being sensitive, or is the alliteration OK?

Also, our last name is short (although, two syllables), am I again being over sensitive when I think that two short names is also kind of weird. (Like Will Taft or John Bush)

Be honest, because my DH is of no help on the matter. And we're trying to come up with three names, so it's hard (one middle name is already decided as my maiden name, also 4 letters--all these short names!)

Here's a short list that I like so far, DH has only grudgingly said one of these was "OK!"

William (Will)
Patrick
Jonathan (John)
Owen
Finn
Quinn
Max (Maxwell)
Oliver
Rowan
Samuel (sam)
Liam

I stay away from what you're talking about. I don't like when a first name has the same letter as the last name.
We had a hard time coming up with a boys name because we really wanted to use Ryan as his middle name (Jeremy's middle name) but pretty much ever name I like ends in N or R. So we had to scratch that idea.

Anyways - from your list I like ..

Owen
Finn
Rowan
Liam

I think Owen and Liam are so sweet together (but of course the last name thing comes up again ) Frustrating, I know!

Here are a few other random suggestions:

Taylor
Connor
Ryley
Isaiah
Max
Noah
Wyatt
Caleb
Blake
Dakota
Darren
Jacob
Hunter
Joshua
Xavier
Zachary
Thatcher
Trey
Tatum
Isaac
Dallas
Troy

Agree! When the last letter of the first name and the first letter of the last name (Will L___N) are the same, it is hard to say and doesn't sound very good.

I think, though, that when the last letters of both names are the same (Owen L___n), that actually sounds nice.

Good luck!
