I think Johan is a fine name, but I would never use it. To me it's a name that should be used by someone who's of scandinavian/german/dutch descent. I would prn. this name as Yo-hahn because that is the correct pronunciation. I do not think Jo would make a good nn as it is the incorrect pronunciation.
