I like these, but find them overused and too popular:
Ella- except as a nickname
My least favorite is Madison- it's sooo trendy and will sound really boring in a few years. It's like the Jennifer of this generation. Plus, it means 'son of Maud' and only came into use as a female name because of a joke in a eighties movie. If you like the nickname Maddie, what about Madeline- I think it's prettier and won't sound as dated.
I like Michaela, but not spelled Makayla.
Ella could be short for: Annabella, Arabella, Camellia, Eleanor, Elena, Eliana, Estella, Gabriella, Isabella
I think that's great that you're picking a name you love despite whether or not it's popular. I could never choose a name I liked second best because my first pick was so popular. Isabella, Olivia, and Sophia are in our top 5 girl names despite their popularity.
