What do you think of Tristan? Do you think it's popular or on the verge or becoming popular? Here's what behindthename says...
TRISTAN
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Welsh, English, French, Celtic Mythology
From the Celtic name Drystan, which was probably derived from drest meaning "riot" or "tumult". The spelling has been altered by association with Latin tristis "sad". In Celtic legend Tristan was sent to Ireland in order to fetch Isolde, who was to be the bride of King Mark of Cornwall. Instead, Tristan and Isolde end up falling in love. Their tragic story was very popular in the Middle Ages, and the name has occasionally been used since that time.
I like the name. The Tristan and Isolde is a good story. And, there was a Tristan knight at King Arthur's round table. But, it's a litte too close to a few girls names - Kristen, Trista, Trisha - that I'd never use it.
I love it.. but it's my ex-bf's name so I'd never use it

I have an irrational despise for this name. I don't know why but it's one of my least favorite boy names. It sounds too feminine and I have a hard time saying it.
