SHILOH
Gender: Masculine & Feminine
Usage: Biblical
Pronounced: SHIE-lo (English)

From an Old Testament place name meaning "tranquil" in Hebrew. It is also used prophetically in the Old Testament to refer to a person, often understood to be the Messiah (see Genesis 49:10). This may in fact be a mistranslation.

WDYT?
Male or Female?

I grew up with a girl named Shiloh so have always thought girl. But I recently met a baby boy Shiloh.
I used to do a novel study with my gr.6 students on the book Shiloh so I just think dog.

Really, really dislike it. It sounds like silo, it's more suitable for a dog (like in the book Shiloh), it's a Civil War battle, and it's the name of a celebrity baby.
The nickname Shy is horrible if the child stuck with it is shy.

NMS. It is the name of a book we read in elementary so that is what it reminds me of. Also, regardless of the fact that Angelina named her baby girl this, it is very masculine to me.

It reminds me of the book/movie about the dog.

its very cute. prefer it on a girl. I think any child with that name will be immediatly be likened to Shiloh Jolie-Pitt

I also just think of the dog... if I had to choose, though, I'd say it's more of a boy name to me.
