Ayla is okay, NMS though. Jolie is simply the French word for pretty, used as a name only by English-speakers because in French it would be the same thing as naming a child Pretty. I don't like the celebrity connection, either.

I am not a fan of Ayla. I like Jolie because it's French for beautiful, not because of Angelina.

Ayla is pretty. Jolie has too much of a celebrity connection for me.

Dear Lindsey and Nick,

My daughter has got the same name. She’s born on the 18th of December 2008.
We live in The Netherlands but we have Turkish roots in our family.
That is why we choose to call our daughter Ayla. In Turkish it means the “moon halo”. Jolie we choose for the French translation of Beautiful. So we have beautiful moon halo.
We also have another daughter, her name is Gaia Noor. Gaia means “the goddess Mother Earth” and Noor means in most countries “holey”.

So we got the earth and the moon in our family and if you translate our last name into English it means sunshine.

I whish you lots of joy in your search to find a name.
We believe it’s a beautiful name and will be honoured if you will give your little girl the same name. (They are rare to find)

Love from Holland,
Emir Günessen

First of all....congrats to you and your family on your new baby girl! I love how much thought you put into naming your daughters.

And, second, I would have never imagined someone else would have put both of those names together being as how they are both so unique!

My husband and I have decided to use this name IF we have a baby girl. We find out the gender on Feb. 2nd...we're so excited!

Thanks to all of you for your posts!

Now I realy hope that it will be a girl
We hope to hear from you in the near future. I'm sorry, tried to sent you a private mail to show you a few pictures, but that wont work. I think the account is limited if you are living outside the US.
