Love it!! Love the nickname Stella, too. So fresh compared to all the little Ellas and Emmas.

I really don't understand this. Are there some names that are suitable for children and other names that are only suitable for adults? It a name less attractive because most people with the name are older?

Sorry, but I just don't get the idea that people should give children names that are popular for children and not names that are more common on adults- children grow up, after all. I'd rather be a kid named Estelle than an adult named Destynee McNevay'ah Angelyn trying to get a job and be taken seriously.

It's funny to me when people say that a name should be reserved for an 80-year-old because obviously the people who have these name had to be a child at one time, barring they didn't change their name as an adult at some point. I prefer the term "dated" for a name that's not one you see much nowadays, but might've been popular or used more years before. I personally like the name Estelle (and a whole list of other names that people think only "old" people should have because it seems classy to me).

I would rather use Stella, though I know some would argue it's merely a nickname.

I think I should add to this, when I told my sisters and grandma my name choices (Estelle and Eleanor), my grandma said they were too old lady (and this is coming from an 80 year old!) I still love them though

I do think it sounds like an older woman's name, mostly because of Estelle Getty from the Golden Girls. It is pretty though. I love Stella.

I prefer to pick names that can go either way.. I don't like Brittany because I don't think it fits an 80 year old, and I don't like Agnes because I don't think it really fits a high-schooler. Estelle isn't my style, but I don't hate it. Estrella is prettier, IMHO. Means the same thing, just a different form and language. I do like the name Esther, though. It's also "old" but meh.. it's classic.

I do agree that I would rather be young with an "older" name than 40 and named Brittani. You might want to consider a more "modern" (not necessarily trendy) middle name, so she has more of a choice when she hits middle school.
