my DH and I are leaning towards Ariadne as a first name. I really like Madeline, but I think it's just too common these days, and only getting more so. I suppose it's Madelyn that's common, and not as much Madeline, but everyone will pronounce it wrong, anyway.

On to my point.. Our last name starts with an E. So would naming her something like Ariadne Cosette work? The Initials would spell ACE, which I think is a really cute nickname - especially since I see Ariadne as a rather feminine name, and not all girls (including me) are especially feminine by nature.

Would doing this and calling her "Ace" be cute.. or is it just cheesy?

I think it would be really cute! DH and I were considering Ava Victoria for our DD and our last name starts with an A so her initials would've spelled her name- we thought that was really cool.

As long as the initials don't spell out something that the child could be made fun of I think its fine. Ace is a cute nickname too.

I think as long as the intials don't spell PMS, DOG, HOG and the like you are fine.

I don't think I would try to get my childs intails to spell something.

ACE is fine regarding intails. But I wouldn't call her Ace, I think that's chessy and not very feminine or attractive.

We weren't planning to try specifically.. but we really like Ariadne Cosette and it happens to spell something.

I like that it's not feminine personally.. not to mention a lot of people in my family keep saying things like "ari-huh?" and something like Ace would be easy for them to remember. We were planning to call her Ari if we don't pick a C-middle name, though.

Fine as long as they don't spell anything bad. I wouldn't try to do it, though.

I love Ariadne!

My initials growing up were HAM...I couldn't get those LL Bean backpacks with your initials that were so cool because I got picked on.

Now I am HAMS and I embrace it, hahaha.

I went to school with brothers that all their initals spelled their name or nn. Like B E N or I A N etc. I agree as long as it doesn't spell something wrong. I know a couple of girls in school who got teased because their initials were KKK and HAM.
