What do you think?

Also, names from well-known literary or pop-culture sources (i.e. Arwen or Cosette) - yay or nay?

I don't like the sound of it, and I think it looks awkward somehow.

It doesn't really roll off the tongue. I like literature names, but not Arwen.

I like it. My friends sister is named Arwen, and that is the only one I have ever met. I also have a friend named Anwen which I think sounds prettier.

I'm not particularly fond of any -wen names, they just don't sound feminine to me. Cosette, I LOVE!

Arwen, I like it alot. I think that it is very pretty and paired with a great middle name could be beautiful. ^.^ I dont really like Cosette but I can see the appeal.

Arwen does remind me of Lord of the Rings. It is pretty but nms. Cosette I really like, DH would never go for it, it reminds me of the opera Les Miserabe (sp)

Arwen *is* from Lord of the Rings. =P And Cosette is from Les Miserables.

Part of the question was are you for or opposed to using names that have such associations.

Another example: my son's name is Luke. We took it from the Bible, but every time we told someone what his name would be they said, "like Skywalker?" I went to behindthename.com and was somewhat disheartened to see that it wasn't popular at all until the 70s (when Star Wars debuted), and then it shot up the charts. We still used the name because we liked it, despite it's pop-culture associations.
