I'm not a fan of most of them. People prejudge people they have not met based on their name alone. I want my children to have professional names for college, scholarship, and job applications. So, I like several nicknames but would only use the full name. There are exceptions - like Jack. Jack is getting more popular as a full name than John and is seen as a full name in its own right by many people. I think for our children's generation, there will be several names that are considered full names that were nicknames at one point in history.

Well this is hard for me since I really like Ace, but think Buster sounds like a dog and is horrid.

In general, I think i'm a fan of nicknamey names. For example, I like Pippa which people use as a nn for Philippa...but I don't like Philippa. I've always liked Libby, but don't care for Elizabeth. Same with Izzy and Lizzy. I even like Bella, but don't care much for Isabella. yeah i'm weird...lol
