Aww.. tell that to the creator of Heroes!

Though apparently: According to the online comic on NBC.com, Hiro is named after Hiroshima, so that his family will always remember the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

i read that! although ive never heard of the show Heroes LOL

but the name itself, Hiro.. is japanese for broad, girls name.. the one from the show is technically a name made from a nickname lol..

i still like Hero better though, and you cant really mistake the pronounciation of that, like you would Hiro, thats what i first thought it was, like Hi-Row.. because i went to school with a guy name Jiro, which is the hispanic version of the name.

If Jiro is Hispanic, then it would be pronounced He-ro.

I really like Hero OR Hiro. But my husband's best friend just named their new puppy Hero.

Not the Spanish I learned.

a = ah
e= eh
i = ee
o =oh
u = oo

Always.. the vowel sounds never change. Unlike our ridiculous language when you can stare at a word for an hour and still not know exactly how to pronounce it.

ahhh....well that sucks. I like Hero much better if Hiro is pronounced Hi-row. I like either spelling for the Hero pronunciation though.
