I am wondering if Jacob is really more popular than Aiden. In the top 100 alone, there are 3 different spellings of Aiden. In the top 1000, there are 10 spellings total (unless I missed any). Do you think there's a possibility that Aiden is actually more popular than Jacob? I kind of wish the SSA lumped all spellings into one so we have a more accurate idea of how popular a name really is....

Anymore I think Aiden's the most popular name. I know of 3 people who named their babies that recently.

I definitely know of more Aiden's (over Jacob). I wish SSA lumped all spellings together, also.. it'd be much easier to tell the overALL popularity of the name. I think there's more ways to spell Aiden.. I've only seen 2 ways to spell Jacob (+Jakob?).. I'm sure people have all kinds of wacky ways to spell it but I think it's less than Aiden.

Yeah, I think Aiden with at its spellings is more popular than Jacob and it also brought on the popularity of all the Haydens, Kaydens, Braydens.... It's so strange because I had never heard ot it until about 5 years ago and now I hear it so often.

Aiden is way more popular, I think.

Though the SSA doesn't lump them together because it's probably computer generated, and just goes by the name.. it doesn't go by pronunciation. Aiden and Adan are different names in that case. *shrug*

I definitely think Aiden would wind up being more popular if they lumped all the spellings together!

Hmm Jacob is always in the top 5 (at least here) I think Aiden is more trendy with all the different spellings. Jacob will always be a classic.

Jacob it's my sons name

I think Aiden could possibly beat Jacob. Especially of you add together all the aiden names like Jayden, Hayden, Cayden, etc .

Name Nerds! name popularity lists

I love these lists, because they add up all the spelling differences, and it gives a much more accurate idea of what names really are the most popular. In the Boys 2008, both Aiden and Jayden beat out Jacob. Adding up all the spelling variations, there were 32,900 Aidens born, 27.090 Jaydens born, and only 23,337 Jacobs.
Hope that helps!

I'm not really sure...though can I just say that it totally annoys me that Aiden is so popular because people think *all* the time that we're saying Aiden instead of Eden. *rolls eyes*
