I did a search of the forum and found the discussion from last July about this name. But I'm interested in revisiting it.
I like it, because it's Biblical (the beautiful city of God and all).
My one turn off is that it is a celebrity name of sorts, and I fear that as a celebritish name, it'll become popular. It is the name of one of Bob Marley's grandchildren. The child's mother is Lauryn Hill- a singer(who has released a song called To Zion). Interestingly enough, and I didn't realize this, they have a daughter named Selah- which I also LOVE, but decided against since I already have a daughter that ends with the "la" sound.
I love it and have considered it for a name if i were to have another soon. I think it would go wonderful with my son's name, Kingston. I am a huge fan of Lauryn Hill, and love the son to Zion. Her son is probably about 10 years old now, and I think the nme has still remained unpopular. She has kind of faded from the lime light, so popularity of the name may not be an issue.
I'm going to have to listen to the song. I have no idea who Lauryn Hill is either- just that she's the DIL to Bob Marley. I didn't realize her son was that old. I tried to look it up. I did find it interesting that in a People article, she told the magazine that her then 7 month old did not have a name yet. I wonder if she's named that baby?
