I like it! To me is sounds like a bold but still gentle type of name. It's biblical isn't it?

Love it!I don't think it's a guilty pleasure name at all -- it could totally work in a modern setting.

Ephraim was the second son of Joseph, and the head of the Tribe of Ephraim.
I've always loved the name, and don't consider it a GP at all. DH likes it but doesn't love it. *shrug*

Most people will assume that if you use a less popular Biblical name, you've read the bible. Assuming they know it's in the Bible, anyways. Matthew, Michael, Mark, John, Luke, Noah.. those people don't make assumptions about. But get into the Naomi, Enoch, Ephraim, Job realm, and people will assume. Doesn't really matter what people assume, in my opinion. People will know where you got it, but wouldn't think much of it anyways.
No, if your sibset was like Ephraim, Hezekiah, Enoch, and Magdalene....

se i didnt even get it from the bible LOL.. the first time i ever heard of the name, i was in child development classes in highschool, where my last period of the day was in our HS's daycare, and one of the teachers' sons was Ephraim, and we called him Eephy.. although i dont like that nickname lol.. she might have gottin it from the bible though..
i didnt even know it was from the bible til i looked it up yesterday, and i dont normally like biblical names because i dont want someone to think thats where i got the name from.. but this one i can make the exception

Whoops! I didn't mean to stir things up by asking! I was just genuinely curious about the name and thought it could be biblical. I wouldn't always associate the name with the bible or anything. Nor do I think many people would.
When you say "Eephy" how would you pronounce that "***-EE"?

I did a quick search for a nickname, and I could only find "Efrem". Which then reminded me I used to work with an Efrem, and always just assumed that was his name. Now I'm thinking his full name was most likely Ephraim. Kinda neat to know now!

Eh, I wouldn't let where people assume you got a name from bother you.
We got Luke from the Bible, and everyone assumes Star Wars.
We're going to use Emmett, which we got from Back to the Future, but most people (at least women) are going to think Twilight.
Doesn't matter what other people assume. =) Though it's been two years now and we still get Star Wars jokes. Seriously people? Really?
