I fall in love with names every other day BUT

I found a new name that fits every little 'requirement' I could ever think of for a girl's name and then some.

DELORIA / DALORIA

Deloria (deh LOR ee ah) -- rhymes with Gloria

I was just posting about how much I LOVE Gloria and I am always looking for D names.

This name is also very very rare. Which I like.
I could also use many nicknames if I should choose Dee, Dori, Doria, Lori, Loria, Dela, etc. etc.

OK... so never mind how much I like it. What are your first impressions? I like honesty so feel free to say exactly why you like or don't like it.

While it's not something that I would use I think that it goes very well with your son's names and it does sound pretty. It does however make me think of the car DeLorean (Back to the Future car)....but many people probably won't think of that. I prefer the Deloria spelling.

I like it. Its pretty. I think I like Delora (duh-LOR-uh) a bit better, though I tend to prefer similar names without the "ee-uh" sound (I prefer Alexandra over Alexandria, for example).

Ditto Tenille and the DeLorean, but I really like the name. I think it's pretty and you're right about all the nn's you could use.

Deloria--I like it! I haven't heard it before but it just sounds natural.

I also thought of Back to the Future, but I don't see that as bad thing at all. After all we're considering Emmett Scott as a name. I think it's a pretty name.

We are very much 80's people That might even convince my husband to use the name. He always wanted one of those cars.

My honest first impression is that it sounds like a hair salon, but that's because there's a local hair salon named Dellaria Salon.

Deloria is a little too... mature and maybe dated sounding with Drew and Donovan, I think.

Delora was one of my favorites for a LONG time. Hardly anyone liked it. I really couldn't figure it out. Maybe because it is closer to Dolores. I don't kinow.

Danica is one of those names that I want to like, but only like on others. I like so many -ica names too (Vivica, Erica, Monica) but something about Danica bugs me. Maybe it's because the name DAN is heard so clearly.

I'm thinking Deloria will mostly go by Dori at home. It's such a cute nickname to me. Drew, Donovan, & Dori fit pretty well. Dori is much less fancy than Deloria

Oh and I mentioned it to the hubs and he gave it a thumbs up. He did mention the car right away and still OK'd it. Onto the short list she goes

Yay. Its always nice getting things on the short list isn't it I think Dori is really cute and I love that she'd have a professional name for later in life.


I have nothing on our combined short list though... DH probably won't talk about names with me until I'm in labor I have time though... lots of it
