What do you think of Reuben on a girl, with the nickname Ruby? Would she need a really girly middle name to make up for it?

Welcome to the baby names board, and to JM!
I dislike Reuben on a girl, period. Matching it with the girly middle name wouldn't help much, since middle names are rarely used. It's a boy's name. if you want to call her Ruby, I would name her Ruby.

Reuben is all boy. And I would assume that Reuben is a boy if I heard the name. Matching it with a girly MN does not help it.
If you love Ruby use Ruby. Don't slap her with a boy name just to give her a girl NN.

I would drop Reuben (which is very masculine) and name her Ruby.

I definitely wouldn't do this at all (Reuben is all boy to me), but if I did, I would spell it Rubyn.
