What do you think of the nn Max on a girl?
I watched a movie recently with a cute little girl named Maxine, but she went by Max. I thought it was so cute. This is the second time I've heard Max on a female and the first time I was not a fan of it. But, I think it has grown on me a little.
There are a few typically male names I like on girls although I would never use them for my own child: Alex, Charlie, Sam, and now Max.

There was a sitcom called Living Single where one of the main characters went by Max. Her full name was Maxine too. She was a tough lawyer so the name fit. I don't mind it at all
I was considering Francesca for a long while and really liked the idea of using Frankie as a nn.

I think boyish nick names on girls is perfectly fine if they're tomboys. Not sure a girl who wears frilly, lacy pink dresses regularly would fit "Max" especially well. But overalls and a ball cap? Definitely.

I think if she had the full name Maxine, it would be good. Like maybe if she is a tomboy, then she could use Max, but if she grows up to be a filly girly girl, then perhaps she would be grateful to have Maxine as a name.

I guess it would work with Maxine... I don't really care for Maxine though... or Max on a girl.

Hmmm, I really love Max but never considered it for a girl. Maxine is one of those names that is ALL over Dh and I's family tree, so I REALLY want to like it but I'm not sure that I do yet. I'll have to think about it some more

I like boy nn's on girls as long as they have a full girly name as well. There was also a maxine on the show with Steve Erkel (sp) the nerdy boy. Maxine was a friend of the daughters and she went by max.
