they don't go with your last name?

For me it's Asher. I love that name but it doesn't go well.. and all -Anna/Anne names. And also a lot of A names.

Autumn is the first one that comes to mind. My dh and I had it picked from early on in our marriage as THE name. Wonder why it took me so long to realize that Autumn Mauldin runs together in an awful way

Probably all A names for me as well.. The number one I can think of is Amanda. I love it but i'm not happy with the way it sounds. They're possible but ehh.

Anything ending in -son.

I think Asher sounds fine with your last name, Melissa. A bit alliterative, but it's not overly so, IMO. I thought your last name was Williams for a while, and I'm not sure why.. . Was confused why Liam was on your list at all..

Honestly, I don't think there's ever been a name I liked that I thought didn't go with our last name.

Our last name is Dhabolt (DAY-bolt).

I guess the only name that came close to clashing with our surname was Deaglan (DEG-len), which I still plan to use as a middle name for a third boy, if we ever have one. We have Brigid picked out as a first name for girl #2 (if we have one) and Brigid ends with a D, and our last name starts with a D. Some might nix a name because of that, but I still plan to use it.

Other than those two names (which we still plan to use, if given the chance), there aren't any names on our list that we've deemed unusable because of our surname. :-/

I love the name Paige but its all sorts of awful as a first or middle name with the last name Craig. Its so tough to pronunciate together IMO.

MaxWELL WAL- doesn't sound good. And, William, nn: WILL WAL- doesn't go well together.

When we were naming our son, we were trying out different Max names and the most popular long form, Maxwell, was out. And, I love William, nn: Will, but cannot use it.

Our last name is Richeson, so I won't use anything begining in R or ending in son. I was just going to do a post about this and then I saw there was one already!

I definitely wouldn't alliterate my childrens first and last names. But now I'm thinking if there's an R name that I love I might consider using it as a middle name. For example I'm kind of digging the name Rochelle at the moment and I think it would be a killer mn.

Our last name is Slaughter, so pretty much anything that ends in -er is out, along with MOST S names. I think there are a few that work, but not many.

Most "Jen" names. I could get away with Jennifer but Jensen/Jenner/Jenny and many other similar names are out.

SO's last name is one syllable and a little harsh sounding so one syllable first names do not sound very nice paired with the last name. Which makes me sad because some of my favorites (Jack, Rhys, Reid) wouldnt work. Luckily I dont like many one syllable girl first names.

When the baby was new, we jokingly named "it" Truman and started telling people that we are thinking of Truman. Our last name is Newman
