The other night I was out and I heard a woman call for her child named Brighton. I thought it was a cute name and turned expecting to see her calling a little boy but it was a girl.

What do you think of that for a girl name?

We are expecting a girl and our list has been narrowed to Cadence or Harlow with the middle name Anastasia. Brighton has stuck in my mind but I don't think it would work with our last name.

I don't like it. Only because living just south of London, I am fairly close to Brighton and it just seems weird being a childs name but it is a town known for gay bars, clubbing etc.

I think it's really cute on a boy, and could work on a girl. It's kind of a snooty name either way, IMO, but that doesn't stop me from having it on my list.

Hmmmm... doesn't seem like a name to me. I could tolerate it on a boy better I think.

i think of it more as a boys name, because of the boy - Brighton, on the Nanny

Oh, it sounds like a girl's name to me - probably because of the Bright syllable. I don't care for that on a boy - too cheerful, girly, carebear-like.

I way prefer Cadence.

I can see it as either a girl's or boy's name, but I wouldn't use it. It's cute, though.

I'm not a fan of it for either sex, really, but I have a harder time seeing it on a little girl- it's more male to me.
