im pregnant with a little girl and she is due soon. DH and I have had a really hard time with girl names. We have only come up with 3 that we both like, and im ready to share Id love to know my baby name board friend's thoughts.

Neta
Sophia
Ella

Neta is our favorite, but it gets mixed reviews. a lot of people like it but we are getting a lot of criticism for it being too unusual. Its an Israeli name meaning growing and flourishing. its pronounced Neh Tuh.

Sophia is actually a family name, i think its DH second favorite. Ella is just a name we liked. Both are really high on the SS list, which does and doesnt bother me. I like the names enough to look past it. What do you ladies think of these 3 names? thank you.

I like that Neta is more unique.. but I am really drawn to more common names. I personally would not use it, but would you consider using it as a middle name?

Sophia is pretty, but I'll admit it has become very popular making it slightly less appealing to me.

Ella I think is absolutely adorable! This would be my first choice I think.

Ella Neta kinda becomes one name put together though ;\ so my middle name idea wouldn't work too well with this I don't think.

My favorite girls names:
Keira Madeline
Sydney Noelle
Peyton Delilah

Charisse
Madison
Paige
Rachel
Katelyn
Lorelei
Brielle
Amaya
Calla

hope you find the *perfect* name for your baby girl!

I like them all. I don't think Neta is that unusual at all. I know several people who go by Netta (*starts like the word NET -- I'm thinking the same as yours) for names Antoinette or Annette. It's very pretty actually and if it's your fave I think you should go for it. It's not hard to pronounce or spell, so it really shouldn't be a problem

Sophia is gorgeous. She would be my second pick on your list.

Ella is pretty as well.

Great list, you can't go wrong.

They are all pretty, but Neta is my favorite. Ella and Sophia have become a tad common. There are two Ella's in my daughter's playgroup, and a Sophia plus a Sophie in her ballet class.

I like Neta. It's not my favorite from your list but I think it would be an excellent choice for your baby girl.
Neta Sophia would be so pretty!

im so glad that overall Neta has gotten a good response here!
its DH favorite...he's wanted to name a daughter that for a long time.

I think the middle name will be my name, i feel a little weird giving my middle name for her but thats what DH wants and also when i think about it if my mom had given me her name as a middle name i would really have liked that!!!

so it would be
Neta Cherie
Sophia Cherie
Ella Cherie

what do you think of a daughter having her moms name? thanks for all your input.

i hadnt really thought of middle names otherwise. i wanted to do my moms name but her name is Armi. (she is from Finland) and when she moved here to the states even as an adult she got teased so i dont think she wants me to!

I think all three names go nicely with Cherie.

My favorites are Ella and Sophia, while they may be more common, they are such beautiful names! Netta is nms, but very unique and has a nice meaning.

I like Neta too...goes well with Cherie.

My preference leans towards Sophia Cherie.

But like the other ladies said, they are all beautiful names!

My favorites are Ella and Sophia. They all go well with Cherie, though. I have my mom's first name as my middle name.

I think they all sound beautiful, but I'm partial to Neta. It's unique but not out there - easy to spell and pronounce, but not something you hear every day at all. I pretty much love it. Ella is lovely as well. Sophia has a pretty sound, but I just can't get into it like everyone else can. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just NMS.

I think they all work well with Cherie. I don't mind the daughter having the mom's name - I love it when little boys have Daddy's name. You could always use your middle name as her middle name too, if you don't like the first name idea.

I think Armi is really cute, actually.. but understand why it's not really "useable." If you wanted to get creative, you could use a variant of sorts.. like Amy/Ami. Or an Anagram - Mia, Mira, Myra (Army rather than Armi). Just a thought. None of those names really work with your first name list, though. Sophia Mia?!

I love all 3 names and think all 3 pair well with Cherie. Neta is my favorite from your list. It's cute and uncommon but it will age well and it's not so uncommon it sounds made up. I think it's perfect. As far as having your mn as your daughter's, I think it's a great idea. Though I may be biased since my daughter has mine.
