Geo --- I think this is neat. Most people might assume it's spelled Gio though.
Hoyt --- Sounds like a bodily noise from the throat. I can't appreciate it
Thornton --- Harsh
Orin --- Interesting. Orrin Hatch bugs me though. I am a political junkie so most people wouldn't even get that. Even with him, I would still recommend it's use.
Sheldon -- Sounds like a socially inept person
Raleigh --- Could work. This would be up for gender snatching though.
Hollis -- I love this name! Not many other people do though.
Cyrus --- Another name I am extremely fond of. I imagine a very smart attractive young man
Ambrose --- 3 in a row! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this name. I would use it in a hot minute. Hubby always frowns when I mention it though. Silas Ambrose is my favorite combo ever! Janna, How did your classmate fare with this name?
Early --- Not useable IMO
Byrd --- I have known older women with this name but not men. Interesting
Zollie --- Too goofy
Rush ---
Oswald --- Don't care for the way it sounds and then there's Lee Harvey soo... big NO
Arlo --- I like it and I think this could be revived. Seems fresh and 'hip' Gives me the same feel as Dean, Miles, and Art.

Geo - I like it a lot
Hoyt - Definitely sounds like a throat noise to me
Thornton - It's okay. Reminds me of Horton Hear a Who.
Orin - I LOVE LOVE LOVE this name! It was on my short list until I used Lauren. Lauren and Orrin? Newp.
Sheldon - NMS
Raleigh - Cute, but I agree the girls would take it over.
Hollis - Too soft for my taste
Cyrus - LOVE IT
Ambrose - Sorry, it just sounds ridiculously pretentious to me. This is what my friend will name a second boy if she has one, nn Brody.
Early - Ermm..
Byrd - This is more feminine to me.
Zollie - Ollie Ollie Oxen Free!
Rush - Could be cute, but yeah Limbaugh kills it
Oswald -- it's alright, except for the whole Lincoln thing
Arlo - Love it. I also love Milo

Re: Ambrose. He was a very attractive guy, so I think he would have faired well being called by just about anything and everything. But yeah, he was smart, popular, and attractive.

Re: Oswald. I like the nn Ozzie for a boy, so for a second I considered Oswald. But yeah, I instantly thought of Lee Harvey Oswald.

I thought the same thing! I was going to see if anyone else mentioned it before I did.

That had me laughing out loud! All the associations we come up with for names just cracks me up. I think of things like that when I hear a name, tell my Dh, and he gives me looks like I've lost my mind.

I think it's funny that some people said their first thought was Lee Harvey when they read Oswald. My first thought was The Drew Carey Show.
