I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Sam, I think it is so strong and handsome. I would definitely use it or some other variation such as Samson. I also love Samantha for a girl too!

I think it's strong and masculine, especially with the nn Sam. I see Sam as a tall, broad-shouldered, good-looking, next-door-neighbor kind of guy. He's a small-business owner, a college professor, a football coach, or maybe even a pediatrician.
I've considered it for another boy because I think Max and Sam make cute brother names. But, I dislike that Sam has become so popular with girls - I usually dislike androgynous names on boys.
