Avonlea/Avenley

Honestly, how do you think most people will pronounce it?

I do like the Avonlea spelling better BUT I'm postive that she will be called uh-VON-lee, uh-VON-lee-uh or avon-lee/avon-lee-uh (like the brand)
I feel like even if I spell it phonetically as possible (Avenley) that it will be pronounced Ay-ven-lee.

My thinking is that Avenley would be the most phonetic as it's spelled like the word "avenue" which is how I pronounce Avenley.

What are your thoughts??

Avonlea- Ave-on-lee
Avenley- Ave-en-lee
at least that's the way I've been pronouncing them all along!

Exactly how I pronounce both...and when I first started loving this name I didn't think it would be a big deal but it seems that most people aren't familiar w/ Anne of Green Gables...

Okay Anne of Green Gables was a cult classic in my house growing up. That is exactly how I pronounce this name.

Me too. I watched Anne of Avonlea on Disney when I was a kid, and I named my baby doll Avonlea. More people might be familiar with that than you think.

I pronounce it the same... not sure how other people will pronounce it. Some people are just not very intelligent when it comes to names.

Family members such as my dad, grandma, etc. STILL sometimes say my daughter's name wrong, even though they've heard it pronounced the right way many times before.

Avonlea- Ave-on-lee
Avenley- Ay-ven-lee

As far as I know, the name Aven is pronounced Ay-ven, which is why I would pronounce the second as Ay-ven-lee.

I think you'd be more likely to get an extra syllable pronounced at the end with Avonlea, because the ending will remind some people of the name "Leah". I actually prefer Avenley... the "ey" at the end makes it look more traditional and feminine to me for some reason. Plus, I think even morons would be MORE likely to pronounce that spelling correctly, although I'm sure regardless of which spelling you use, you'll have some people who just can't get it right
