Alice / Alys

Alice has been creeping up the charts for a little while. I wonder what effect the new movie will have on it. WDYT of Alice / Alys (older variant of the name) ?

I think it's pretty, but I wouldn't use it. I'd be more likely to use Alison. I don't think the movie will change it's popularity, since it was already a very popular movie to begin with.

I used to find this name very old fashioned and I didn't like it. However, due to hearing it more lately (and admittedly the Twlight connection) I like it more now. It's my grandmother's name so I would consider using it as a middle name.

The movie might make it "come back" a little, who knows..... sometimes they can do that. But, I've always liked it. I think it's a gorgeous classic name.

And, I want to see Alice in Wonderland bad!

I really like it and prefer the traditional spelling of Alice. I think it will probably be a bit more popular due to Twilight and Alice in Wonderland.

Alice is an okay name to me. I think it would be nice for someone's child. I like / love so many other names a lot more. It's sweet but 'blah' for my personal taste.

Oh and I do expect it to rise in the charts a lot, but I don't know if it will reach extremely popular status (top 10) ever again. I didn't know it was a character in Twilight (I don't follow that at all) so that will probably push it higher too.

I absolutely love Alice to pieces. I am really worried that between Twilight and the new Alice in Wonderland movie and the vogue for old-fashioned but not too dated girls names it will get really popular.

I know it shouldn't, but being a Jessica from the 80s it really bothers me when I name I love gets crazy popular. I'm worried that Alice might join Emma, Emily, Sophia and Abigail on the list of crazy-popular classics.

I like Alice, but probably wouldn't personally use it. I agree, I like it more because of the Twilight connection

Alice isn't bad, but I've always thought of the Alice in Wonderland (before all this Tim Burton/Johnny Depp nonsense). Alys just looks like a nickname for Alyssa. It looks like a-LYSS not AL-ice. Alice is very classic and feminine.

I prefer Allison, too.
I don't dislike Alice at all, but it's not something I would use- it's a bit old fashioned for my typical tastes.
