I'm seriously considering naming my daughter Brianna. I wanted to avoid names that end in "y" or the "ee" sound, since my last name is Jeffery. I don't really plan on shortening her name to Bree, but nicknames are hard to plan. I have a dog named Fedora, and before I got her, I thought I'd probably call her Dora for short. I've never once felt the urge to call her Dora, because she's just not a Dora.

Anyway, if she does end up being called Bree, how bad does Bree Jeffery sound? I don't think it's terrible, but I had hoped to do better than just not terrible in my name selection. :-)

Another thing is that I really like Leigh for a middle name. Of course, people don't usually call people by a nickname and their middle name, but Bree Leigh Jeffery sounds kind of ridiculous.

Thoughts?

if you dont call her Bree/Brie chances are no one else will, also if youre really not fond of it, its really easy to politely correct people with a simple "we would prefer if you would call her Brianna"

I think Bree Jeffery sounds okay. Besides, most people don't say someone's first and last name when talking to them. Her friends will probably call her Bree but her teachers will call her Brianna Jeffery when taking attendance, etc.

I agree, I would just politely correct anyone who called her Bree.. say it's not her name and you prefer Brianna I would never mind if someone told me that- I'd want to call them what I'm "supposed" to. I honestly don't care for Bree Jeffery because the endings sound too alike to me. But I love Brianna and that flows fine with Jeffery!
