I was just thinking, alot of names these days are too "cute" and I can't imagine them on a 60 or 40 year old professional adult person.
SO my question is, do you take this into account when searching for a name for your baby? How it will age?

honestly - i think all the names will age well. 60 years ago, Dorothy and Bernice weren't "old lady names" and they are now, but back then they were "trendy/cutesy" i think the same thing will happen with some of the more "cutesy" names today. Also, that 40 year old professional adult will be in the company of other 40 year old adults with the same type of name.

That's a good question. I see so many of these names that give me a headache now and I wonder if the kid will make it through middle school let alone adulthood without changing it. I don't know how many people think about that kind of thing.

That really didn't matter for me...because when they're 60...all these "cutesy" names will be on old people...so doesn't bother me at all.[/b]
ITA!! Its not like there will only be one person out there with a certain name. I sometimes cant imagine me being an old woman named stacy but I wont be the only one. Same with our kids, there will be tons of them with the same name as adults.

I guess Raine would be in that "cutesy" name catagory, but IMHO I think it ages well. Especially since it's Princess Diana's Mothers name.

Cutesy or not, as a teacher, may I please suggest that you don't het "creative" with the spellings of names!! That's my biggest pet peeve.

I always thought about that too. I was in LOVE with the name HAYLEY!!! (And I still think it's adorable, only reason I didn't use it was because it's way popular now!) Anyways, I used to tell my husband I couldn't Imgian HAYLEY being a 60 year old woman's name!!! lol I mean It just didn't look right! But I think in 50 years or so we will all be so used to all these "Uncommon" names that it won't look so "Different" on a older person. We'll probably be used to it. Just like "lane6901" said, back in the day the name Dorothy, to many people thought it was cutesy and sweet, and now I think most of us think of it as an older persons name!

Right now I can't even see "Kannon" being an old mans name! LOL but it will happen and I'm sure it won't be so FAR OFF as we think.

When we told my neighbors we named the baby Dakota, they told its a stripper name LOL!!! Dakota Raine... now that I think of it, it does kinda scare me a little lol. But honestly, I am not too worried about how it will age.
