OK.... few years ago, when DH and I had only been together a little while, we thought I was preggo, but didn't know for sure yet...I then had a VERY heavy, painful period, and we always wondered if it was a m/c. In the week we thought I was pg, we had started calling the baby "Emeril" (boy). We are huge Emeril Lagasse fans, ever since we met we have always loved spending time together watching his shows, etc. Also, Emeril is portugese, and so is DH. SO then when I got my period, for some reason we just couldn't let it go, and I know this is weird, but for the last couple years, we have CONTINUED to refer to that baby as "Emeril". When i got pregnant this time, we immediately started to refer to the baby as Emeril, and were very happy that THIS time, he would (hopefully) be born healthy to us. (We both have a feeling it is a boy....we will be finding out when we can).
ANYWAY, we have started discussing names....I never REALLY thought if we had a son we would ACTUALLY name him Emeril.....it does seem a little weird and I don't want him to be laughed at, etc. But DH is like "How could we call him anything else?" He wants to really name him Emeril, and maybe call him by his middle name (likely Julian, since that is the only other boys name we agree on) if we don't want to actually use Emeril.
I hope I don't get laughed out of here, but what are your feelings on this?

Well, take into consideration that by the time the baby is grown most of his peers wont even know who Emeril Lagasse is, as I recall he was crazy popular for a while in like the 90's and then he got his own sitcom and jumped the shark, so so he probobly wont be made fun of...and if it is a name that has meaning to you screw what other people think....however you could always just use it as a middle name, and I LOVE Julien its in my top 3 boys names!
Those who love me know how to reach me...it's been real ladies, peace and love!!
