I'm getting a little worried! When I first asked about it on this site YEARS ago, almost everyone was like...YUCK. NO WAY. Now it seems like everyone likes it. I really hope a good portion of the populaton still thinks it's yucky so they don't use it! lol
Look at the name Ava. It went from 350 in 1998 to 39 in 2003. That is QUITE a jump.
So WDYT, is my daughter going to have a popular name in the near future?? Or is Phoebe just odd enough that many people won't warm up to it? I am going to discourage the name on every baby name site I visit! lol

lol, I don't think it will ever get overly popular honestly! Ava got popular after Reese Witherspoon used it I think.

Hmm, I don't know! It's so hard to predict naming trends! It's a cute name though.

Yeah, I agree, some name trends are hard to predict. I would of thought Phoebe already hit its peak with Friends.

I personally do not think it will ever (or at least any time soon) get very popular. If it makes you feel better I still think it's YUCK! Totally kidding. I think it's a fine name, just not my style

I don't know. It's cute, unique but easily recocognized- something many want in a name. I think if a highly popular celeb would use the name it might take off but I don't think you have any major worries considering it has had a lot of tv exposure already with the shows friends & charmed and it didn't take off then so you might just be safe!

Thanks ladies! I visit a few other baby name sites and it seems like it's been mentioned a lot more lately. Hopefully no celebrities use it!! I read an article online that predicted it as a hot name in the next 10 years, that was what really made me think that it could potentially be very popular.

I think it could get more popular actually. Sorry. It has the same feel as Chloe and Zoe and once people start to tire of those they are going to look around and find Phoebe. I don't think it will be a top 10 name. Maybe top 25. I think it will take at least 5 more years for it to get there too.

At least when you named your daughter it wasn't popular. She won't have to worry about having gaggles of them in her class. Look at it this way... better to be a trendsetter right

I love the name Phoebe! I am not sure how popular it will or will not be. I do know how you feel because when I named Jaden, his name was no way popular. Matter of fact every one always asked me how I came up with his name. Now look at it! Its soooo popular and even worst a unisex name which I really dont like using for boys. Then when Jonah was born no one really liked it much that I knew, but now I have seen alot of kids with the name Jonah...even characters on TV.
