Which spelling do you prefer? NN would probably be Lola...or Lila.

I like both spellings. My first tendency is to spell this name Lorelai... I think I like that a teeny bit more than Lorelei.

Lorelei but if you wanted the NN of Lola or Lila, then maybe Lorelai would work better.

I've liked this name for a while. I prefer the spelling Lorelei and I don't think this spelling affects whatever nickname you choose.

Lorelei. I don't really see how the spelling affects the nickname... I mean, Lola can be a nickname for Dolores, which doesn't have an A in it.

Lorelei was the original spelling, anyway:

LORELEI
Gender: Feminine
Usage: Germanic Mythology
Pronounced: lawr-e-LIE, LAWR-e-lie [key]
From a Germanic name meaning "luring rock". This is the name of a rock headland on the Rhine River. Legends say that a maiden named the Lorelei lives on the rock and lures fishermen to their death with her song.

Lila and Lola are really cute as nicknames.

I agree that the spelling doesn't effect the nn, Isabel/Izzy, Lucas/Luke. However, it would be easier to answer the question "How did you get Lola from Lorelai?" with the -lai spelling. I know someone would ask, lol!

Originally, when I first started to like the sound of this name, the Lorelei spelling bothered me. Something about the -ele in the middle name just looked strange to me.

Now I'm starting to like it a smidge more than the -lai spelling but I still go back in forth.

I wonder if one is more recognizable than the other? I think if I were to use this name I would want to use the spelling that would be mispronounced the least.
