I was just wondering where you all stand on using a name with a seasonal meaning - out of season?
I've LOVED Natasha for a long time, and was planning on using it when I was expecting in November and then in January (FYI it means "born on christmas day", so even that was a stretch) but now that I'm due in APRIL should I just save it for another baby?
Or is the meaning really not that big of a deal in your opinion?
To be honest I didnt even know thats what Natasha meant so the season thing wouldnt have even occurred to me. With that being said I still think its fine using names out of "season" I knew a Noelle born in July and never thought twice about it. If I like the name Ill use it regardless.
I have a Natasha (GREAT name choice! LOL) who was born in September I've loved the name Natasha since I was a little girl and always knew that when I have a daughter, that's what I will name her (thankfully DH was on board). So it's totally cool to have a Natasha who was not born around Christmas! Although I've only discovered the meaning sometime later and it didn't really bother me. On one website I was on, it said Natasha means "conceived on Christmas" and she WAS conceived in December, but that was just a coincidence!
If you love the name, USE IT!! I never think of Natasha as a Christmasy name, despite it's meaning. I tend to think of Natalie, Noelle, Holly, and Ivy as more Christmasy, but I think they can be used on a baby at any time of the year.

Yay thanks girls! Well it's back in the running then
I guess with all the talk of meaning in baby name books I worried people would be like WHAT??
Julka, what did you use as a middle name for Natasha? I'm considering Anne (after Anne Shirley).
I'm glad you decided to leave Natasha on your list! I think it's a beautiful name no matter what time of year your birthday falls.
We did use Natasha as a mn for our youngest because of the meaning. She was born Dec. 22nd and we decided we wanted a name w/ holiday meaning but we didn't want it to be obvious. Natasha was the perfect choice because very few people know it means "born on Christmas".
