My DD's first day of preschool was today and there are 2 Jocelyn's in her class. I also know of a preggo lady that this is her first choice for a girl. I think it is a pretty name, but don't consider it popular. Just struck me funny I am hearing a lot of it lately. What do you ladies think? Is it gaining popularity? Just curious...

I don't really hear it much but it was #50 three years ago when your dd was born and it's still in the top 75 names! I think its a pretty name.

I don't love it but last year a baby on General Hospital was named Jocelyn... I bet you can attribute so of it's popularity to that.

My sisters name is Jocelyn. She's 27 and I think has met 2 other Jocelyn's. One being an aunt she was named for.

I think it's pretty but I don't love it. I don't hear it a whole lot.

Like mentioned above, Jocelyn has been in the top 100 for a while, and that is just one spelling.

Jocelynn, Joslyn, and Joselyn were also in the top 1000.

It isn't super insanely popular, but I would definitely consider it an 'in' name. I'm a baker/decorator, and it would definitely be unusual for me to go an entire month without making at least a couple birthday cakes for Jocelyns under ten.

I don't know any Jocelyns - child or adults - IRL. There is one Jocelyn in Max's PR here on JM. It's in the top 100, but I don't think it's super popular.

If we were having twin girls, Jocelyn would have been one of the girls.

I also think Jocelyn is popular in the Hispanic community which could account for some of its popularity.

Love it. It's on our short list for this baby.
