Is it really that popular? I think its really cute and my hard to please husband said today that he thought the name Chloe was really pretty I about fell over. He usually doesnt like any names. I do worry about the popularity of it though. It seems like alot of the names I think are really pretty are to popular guess thats why they are.

Its honestly not that popular here, not that I know of atleast. I only know one little girl named Chloe. Its number 21 in NJ compared to number 9 for the whole country. If you go here-> Popular names by State you can find out how popular it is in your state!

I think it was more common about a decade ago than it is now. All of the Chloe's I know are 9 or older. I've always thought it was a sweet name, and that is a GOOD SIGN if it is a name you like and your hard to please husband likes too!!

It can be hard to judge it's real popularity because it is one that gets the creative spelling treatment quite a bit. For the US as a whole Chloe, Khloe and Kloe are all in the top 1000, and all are still on the rise (as of the 2009 figures that are available, anyway). I've also met a little Kloey recently. For me, it is way too popular, especially when you add in the smattering of fairly similar names that are also pretty popular right now (for example, Kylie and the bajillion spellings of Zoe on the top 1000 list).

But, like you said, a lot of these names are popular for pretty good reasons. I think Chloe is a nice name and is more like the 'Emma' type super popular names- classic enough that it would age well and not be an obviously tired trend of a name by the time she was an adult. It is just about finding where your own line in the sand is drawn when it comes to popularity.

It really is all relative. I personally think it's pretty popular since it is #9 in the US; however, like Carly said, that doesn't mean it's popular in your area and she may never meet another Chloe
