If we ever have a daughter her name will be Astrid, and her middle name will probably be Elin (the Swedish way of spelling Ellen). I love old fashioned names. I love Clara, Hazel, Nora (our cat's name lol), and Alice. For boys I love Miles, Oliver, Emmett, Gunnar, and Simon. If we have another boy he will probably be named Gunnar. Not sure on a middle name yet.

Some of the names listed aren't actually old fashioned since some are very popular names to this day. Old fashioned would imply names that you almost never hear today or in the past two or three decades.

My parents gave me an old old name and thank god that there was a nickname that they shortened it to and that they never called me by that name. So many people laugh when I tell them my full first name. It is awful. Every now and then someone will say to me, Oh, I had a grandma with that name ...or a great aunt...etc. You get the drift. I can't stand my name. If I had been given a middle name, I'd have gone by that name.

Actually, most are 'old fashioned'. My list came from SSA.GOV list of names from the 1800s. Many 'old fashioned' names are making a comeback. What is your name? I bet I'd like it!

I didn't notice Ella on the list. That's my daughter's name but I didn't use it because it's regaining popularity. My grandma who was born in 1913 was named Ella Mae. I love all of your lists though, I LOVE old fashioned names!

Actually, your list had more old fashioned names than some of the others. Miles has been popular for at least a decade though. No way am I putting on a public message board what my full first name is...lol. What's sad yet funny is that my AP English teacher in high school was talking to someone about her name. Her name was Gladys and she hated it. He told her that she could have a worse name like X (my full first name). I was so mad! What's even funnier is that my parents wanted to name me Gladys.
