One of the little girl's in Josiah's music class this morning was named Abernathy. I'd never heard it used as a first name, and thought it was a huge name for a little tiny bundle. WDYT of the name?

I think it's a silly name for a girl. It's a surname and a place name, I don't think it sounds feminine or appropriate for a first name at all.

I haven't heard this name in a while. I know that it is a Scottish name, but I've mostly heard it as a surname and once on a boy.

NMSAA. It's not pretty or feminine at all for a little girl, imo.

She could always go by Abby...

That aside, I don't find it appealing.

I like it, but would never use it as a girls name. I would use it for a boy though.

Eek.

My poor younger cousin is Anastaszja Alexandra and her last name is 10 letter polish name with z's and y's lol. They call her Stazi for short. I always felt bad her name is so long.

It's nms but I don't think it's too big or anything. It's 4 syllables, right? So it's no longer than Isabella, Juliana, Alexandra, Gabriella, etc...
