When I read it, I sort of thought they don't really know what they are talking about. Names like Justin, Lisbeth, William, Kate and Marlena are the types of names that can't be influenced by even the most popular of celebrities, because they just aren't going to suddenly appeal to lots of people that they never appealed to before.
Lily, Jacob, Brooklyn and Landon are already popular. They may continue to rise, but it won't be because of these influences.
I do think the names Alice, Donovan, Bristol & August are going to be on the rise, but not JUST because of their respective 'trendsetters' mentioned in the article. They are just currently stylish and will continue to appeal to more and more people as they are heard by more people.
William, Katherine/Kate, Lily, Luke, Alex/Alexander, Haley, and Jacob are already popular. Some of them are super-popular. So, I wouldn't say they're a trend due to anything to do with pop culture.
I see Alice coming back in popularity not because of anything to do with Alice in Wonderland. It's been gaining in popularity for several years now.
I don't see Justin hitting it big. Women in their peak child-bearing years now grew up in the 80s. Justin peaked in its popularity in the 80s, so we all have other associations with the name that probably overshadow Bieber. And, Bieber is popular with moms? That's news to me. I've seen that kid in 2-3 interviews and he drives me crazy.
As people are starting to like Marley and Lena, I could see Marlena gaining in popularity...again, little to do with a movie or book.
I looked up the Palin names and they DID have a BIG jump in 2009.
Bristol entered the chart at 666.
Willow jumped 93 ranks.
Tripp jumped 259 ranks.
Track and Trig aren't on the list.
Piper was already popular.
