We are using Mason as his first name. The only regret I have with only having boys is I wanted to use my name somewhere with a daughter. There's no changing the sex of the baby and I am ok with that. I was browsing baby names and came across Mason. Not a name I would typically pick, but then it hit me...Ma Son(Kinda like Ma's Son) so that's his name. Now for a middle name, we are choosing to name him after a dear friend. His middle name is James and his first name is Michael. Which would you choose to use?

I would choose James, if neither middle name has significance to you. I just like James better. However, what is your name? You might still be able to pass it on somehow, through a variant or a name with a similar meaning.

Mason James because Mason Michael repeats the 2 syllable M thing.

I agree, there's probably a way to alter your name or middle name to use.

Mary Elizabeth is a tough one! A beautiful classic name though, and I see why you'd want to pass on to a daughter.

One option is to use initials, so M.E. Surname for your son's name. (Or even M. your maiden name, surname!)

Another option is related names. Marin, Mario, Marius, Marino and Marinus are all boys name related to Mary.

Elias, Eli and Elijah (And Elliot, which came from Elias) are not directly related to Elizabeth, but they have similar meanings because they are all originally Hebrew, using the same Hebrew letters. In English, thats where the ELI comes from.

I personally really like Marius James, Marius Eli, Eli Marin, Elijah Marin, Elliot Marin or even Marin Elijah or Marin Elliot.

Or you can use Mason James, which is also quite handsome. I just wanted you to be aware of some other options. Good luck choosing, and congrats!
