It really depeds on the surname. Those you listed are fine to me, but consider this list:

Schroyen
Dunham
Devita
Shores
Zakaib
Lefroy
Flemming
Watson
Koehler
Cox
Mueller
Doi
Lockerby
Caldwell
Camcastle
Cockburn
Chang
Haddad

Those are the last names of people I remember from my 8th grade class. Don't think ay of them are jumping to name their kid their maiden name, lol. Or at least I hope not! The only ones I could think of that would do as first names were Hunter, Porter and Mitchell.

Yep, depends on the name.

If I'd had a boy, his name was going to be Anderson Luke. Anderson means son of Andrew, and that's my hubby's name. He already has a Jr. with his ex, so that was out of the question.

I like surnames as first names, in many instances. My cousin named her little boy Parker, and that's our mothers'--they're sisters--maiden name (she was paying homage, I guess).

My dad's name is Roger, and I have a brother, Roger, so I guess I don't hate that name. But I never thought of it as a surname, either...even though my previous married name was Rogers...

All of the ones you listed are very common first names.

Right now I love Anderson and Sullivan
