I really need some creative advice on names! My father raised me (his daughter) all by himself and it's very important to me that I somehow name my daughter after my dad. His name is James Lavon. I am having a really hard time thinking of female names that stem from his.
So far I like Jaelyn as a girls name (letters from James Lavon made Jalon but I wanted more feminine spelling), Janae (using the combination of letters), or maybe Lavaughn or Lavonne just to spell it differently (but her father doesn't want to call her Lavaughn, that would have to be a middle name.) I really want a first name for her that comes from my dad & clearly I'm not that creative!
Could anyone please help with suggestions whether it be from something that rhymes, sounds the same, uses combination of letters, etc?

Thank you so much!!

I love the name Vonna or Vaughna

Jaime Vonna

Personally i like Vonna Jae

Vonna James

Oh have fun! This is great that you want to name her after her grandpa.

My sister and daughter are named after my grandfather by using his last name as a first name, er middle name in my daughter's case.

I think James makes a TERRIFIC middle name! (I wouldn't use it as a first name but it's awesome in middle esp paired with feminine first name). In my opinion, it honors your dad more to give her his given name/same spelling in the middle name position, rather than give her a creative combo in first name position.
What month was he born? What season? What's his birthstone? Maybe tie the first name to one of these. GL!

Have you thought of using the same initials, JL? There are lots of choices open to you if you do that! I also like the idea of a unique first name with James or Lavonne in the mn slot.

I like Jaelynn. I think Jamie is also nice. I love the idea of honoring your father, how sweet.

Jamie is cute.

I know a girl named Jaima (Jay-ma) which is pretty too.

I think Jaelyn is a very nice name for a girl, and even if the spelling doesn't come from your father's name, the sound certainly does, and understanding how the name came about would certainly honour your father.

Is Lavon his middle name? If so, could his last name somehow be used or incorporated in the name?

I like Jamie (not spelled Jaime, because that will be confused with the Spanish male name). Jacqueline is related to the name James - it's the feminine form of Jacques, which is the French form of James, though many people won't know that. I don't like James on a girl, to me it's like naming a girl George or Harry.

I think Levon or Levonne works as a middle name for a girl, but there's also Lavinia and Liv, if you just want something similar.

James would be fine as a middle name.

I'd probably just use James as the middle name.
