We are having such a hard time finalizing a middle name for Claire.

My #1 choice would be Claire Isabel, because I love both of those names. I would use Isabel for a first name if I didn't already have a daughter named Ella. However I am worried that Claire Isabel sounds like "clear as a bell". Do you think that is worth not using Isabel? Is it really noticeable??

Our other option/thought is Claire Elise. Not because I LOVE the name Elise (I think it's pretty, but I'd never use it as a first name). But because I just feel like it flows well with Claire. And I do think Claire Elise is a really pretty combo. (Or at least better than most names -- I feel like Claire is SO hard to pick a middle name for!)

So which combo do you like best???

I know I have probably driven everyone insane by now but I really appreciate the help! Thank you!

I voted for Claire Isabel because I feel the most important thing is that you love the name.

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that my son's name is Caleb Isaac, so if I did Claire Isabel they would have the exact same initials. Is this a problem???

They are both nice, but I think you should go with the names you like the most. I don't think having the same initials as your son would be an issue at all.

I think you should go with Claire Elise. it sounds better, and this way she won't have the exact same initials as her brother.

Claire Elise is also my pick because your son starts with C and your daughter starts with E, so she'll have BOTH of her siblings' first initials.

Both middle names are nice but most important I would go with the name that you love the most. I love the spelling of Isabel too. Most people don't pay attention to initials. I personally feel if you love a name, go with it because in the end you are going to look back and wish you did.

Lurking....just wanted to say that I LOVE Clarie Elise. We were going to name this little girl Clarissa Rose but dh changed his mind the other day and prefers Claire. Elise is one of the MN's we've been considering, too!!

Claire Isabel.

Middle names are rarely used.. and when you do say them together you can clearly pronounce both names. If it were her first and last name I wouldn't do it but for a middle name- go for it!

I was going to pick Claire Isabel until I read the "Clear as a bell" and then the same initials as her brother. The other daughter is already odd with first initials so it would bother me that she's odd with middle initials too. Claire Elise is really pretty!

I see what you mean about it being hard to find a middle for Claire.

Claire Mackenzie
Claire Makenna
Claire Alexandra
Claire Michaela
Claire Nicole
Claire Danielle
Claire Elizabeth
Claire Nicolette
Claire Nicoletta
Claire Gianna
Claire Juliana
Claire Victoria
Claire Olivia
Claire Brianna

hmm...both are pretty but I agree, it is hard to pick a mn for Claire! My favs are:

Claire Nicole
Claire Alexandra
Claire Addison
Claire Breanne
Claire Elisabeth
Claire Evelyn
Claire Irelyn
Claire Madison
Claire Madelyn
Claire Natalia
Claire Olivia
Claire Rebecca
Claire Talise
Claire Tabitha
Claire Violet

Another suggestion: You could do Clara Belle and call her Claire still and have 1/2 of Isabelle in there. Clara Belle is really pretty.

I totally empathise with you. Claire is my maiden name, so it is one of my top choices for a girl because it would honor my family and its just a pretty name. I think Claire Elise is a really pretty combo--it reminds me of the beautiful classical piece Fer Elise. Plus, both names are French so that is part of the reason I think they flow well together. (My sister-in-law is actually Elise Claire(Claire being her last name)).

On my list here are some that I've been considering, but you're right it is really a hard name to put first:

Claire Hope
Claire Grace
Claire Noelle
Claire Joy
Claire Ayelet
Claire Olivia
Claire Amarys
Claire Isaline
Claire Aveline
Claire Renee

Let us know what you choose!

It's so funny you mentioned that, because actually I am naming her Claire after the BEAUTIFUL piece Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy! I didn't realize I had thought of two 'musical' names.

Thank you everyone for the input! I really appreciate it and it helps a lot. I still don't know for sure what we will use, we just keep going back and forth! But thank you!

I like both but like Claire Elise better

We have similar tastes in names as DH and I have agreed upon Claire Alice if we ever have a baby girl

I like both, and think you should pick the one that you love the most. That being said, my favorite of the two is Claire Elise
