Is Alyvia pronounced the same to you as "Olivia"? It seems that to some it is, and some it's a different name entirely? Please share your thoughts!

Thank you!!

it looks like Ally-via or A-Lie-via instead O-Liv-ia, to me. I would be tempted to say it differently though I know it is meant to say it the same. I think people change syllables to be trendy without thinking about how it actually changes the name.

At the very least I would say they're Oh-livia and Uh-livia. Subtle difference. I dislike the y in there.. it makes me totally unsure how it's intended to be pronounced. Alivia works and looks less awkward to me.

I dont say them the same, but i would say they are very close. I say Olivia "Oh-liv-ee-ah" and Alivia "Ah-liv-ee-ah"

I much prefer Olivia. If I seen it spell the other way, I would want to pronounce it differently.. Plus it really looks tacky with the Alyvia spelling IMO..

I pronounce them both the same. I like Olivia much better though, obviously since that's the name we have chosen.

I know of an Alyvia and they pronouce it Ally-Vee-Uh, which isn't a favorite of mine. I do not like the "y" in there--makes it difficult on how the parents want it announced. I like Alivia and Olivia but I pronounce them differently. UH-lih-vee-uh and OH-lih-vee-uh.

I have an Olivia and we say it the same as Alyvia. You can pronounce Olivia with the strong "O" sound or like the Alyvia sound. We call her Livy.

It sounds like it might be a regional thing because Olivia is always pronounce Uh-liv-ee-uh around here.

It's pronounced the same but I agree Olivia is MUCH more classic and would make life easier for the kid on the first day of school

I swear I haven't been drinking, but how the heck is Alyvia pronounced the same as a name that starts with an O?

Al/Aly has no sort of O sound to it.
