Hi ladies. We are expecting number 2. We will not find out the gender, so we need to have 2 names picked out. When I was pregnant with DD the names we had were Oliver Marshall and Stella Lenore. We had the boy name picked out very early, the girl name was not decided on until about a week before she was born. This time around I am having a harder time with a boys name.

Oliver is out. After Stella was born and we told the family what our names were they were not fans. The middle name for a boy will remain Marshall (after Dh's dad).

In general, these are NMS:
last names as first names
traditional names spelled non-traditional ways.

Here is my short list so far:
Iris
Collette
Lola (probably too close to Stella, but I like it)
Lolita
Ginger

Duncan Marshall
Cohen Marshall

Any advice or suggestions?
Thanks!

Lola can be a nickname for names like Lauren or Lorraine, which would let you call her Lola, but formally the names wouldn't be so close. As it is, Lola and Stella aren't too close to use in my book.

Some random suggestions:
Charlotte
Colleen
Cosette
Ivy
Jacqueline
Mercy
Hazel
Violet
Vienna
Marnie

Owen
Graham
Sebastian
Carson
Simon
Garrett
Angus
Keegan
Dexter
Vaughn

Iris - very nice!
Collette - nice, though probably not something I'd use.
Lola - meh, it's nicknamey to me. I don't think it's too close to Stella, though.
Lolita - this is even more nicknamey, and because of the book Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, many people will associate it with pedophilia.
Ginger - I like it, but it always makes me think of someone with red hair.

Duncan Marshall - nice
Cohen Marshall - Cohen is just a surname to me.

Suggestions:
Audrey
Aurelia
Beatrice/Beatrix
Bryony
Celia
Charlotte
Ginevra
Harriet
Isis
Ivy
Kaia
Lara
Leila
Lila

Vivian/Vivienne

Aaron
Arthur

Calum
Colin
Corbin

Evan
Jonathan
Julian
Kieran
Lucas/Luke
Oscar
Rowan
Sebastian

when I think of Stella, for some reason the name Audrey comes straight to mind as a nice sibset

As for boys, I like Stella & Liam, or perhaps William

I am so adding these to the list!
Ivy
Hazel
Vivian
Olive

Graham

There are sooo many names that you all listed that I would like, but they have negative conotations to me because of people I have known. It sucks that one crappy person can ruin a name!

Thanks so much!

Yeah, I agree with this. Honestly, the first thing I thought of was that trashy Japanese anime where all the girls have huge boobs and run around half naked. The fans of those animes call those girls 'Lolitas' after that book because most of them are usually around 15 or so. I had a room mate who use to love that stuff. Ugh. Men.
