Which of these 3 names do you prefer if the child were called it everyday (so Lily or Lucy could have a longer, formal name but goes by their nn)?

Lucy. I have a hard time saying Lily, and I'm kind of tired of the name - I see it everywhere!

I really like Lily, it was even on the list for a while because of a Mass card I got and the first flowers DH got me were lilies . Although it seems sooo popular now, in my classroom I've only met 1 little girl with the name Lily thusfar.

I feel like if a child were named Lucy or Ruby it would be cute as a child, but as an adult they would feel childish. Lily is great for all stages of life. You have to think about them at every age. I really like Lily!

Well, when I think of Lucy, Lucille Ball (I Love Lucy) and Lucy Liu (Ally McBeal, Charlie's Angels) come to mind and I think their name fits them just fine.

It took awhile for Ruby to grow on me because I could only see it as an "old lady" name.

So, I can see all 3 names on babies through the Grandma years. I just think it takes a certain type of person to pull off the Lucy and Ruby in early to mid adulthood and I don't know if I'd have a child who could. Lily is more universal, I think.

Thanks for all the input ladies!

So tired of Lily. There may not be many in the classrooms today but give it 4-5 years and there will be tons. Lucy is cute. I like Lucinda as a full name. Ruby is my absolute favorite.

I couldn't agree with you more! My dd is Lucy is short for Lucinda. And I can totally see her carrying off the name as an adult (she's 9 now) but if she decides she can always use Lucinda too.
