I prefer Henry, so I'd use that one, since Harry is just a nick name. If he'd gone by Hank his whole life, would you use Hank instead of Henry?

OOOU I like Harrison!! What a lovely name! And you could use Harry as the nickname. It makes more sense.

I know Harry is a name on it's own, I just meant that your grandfather used it as a nickname, and therefore as far as being a family name, it's "just a nick name." Maybe I'm not making sense - I'm very tired today.

Harrison is cute, too!

Yeah, Henry....and even Harrison.....is much preferred here in the US over Harry. But, I've noticed Harry is popular in Europe - even with a famous prince with the name.

I noticed in another post you said you were Irish and live in Ireland.

You've posted several topics about your names that are all VERY Irish to our mostly-US JMers here. You'd probably get completely different responses, tastes, and suggestions from Irish people. Like the whole Henry/Harry thing, most Europeans would probably tell you to go for Harry, but most JMers (from the US) will tell you Henry.

So, I don't know how much help we have been? Do you know what I mean?

I'm from England I prefer Henry, its more of a proper name. Harry is a nick name originally, for Harold, Henry etc. but its fallen into the same category that has become popular in the UK, such as Charlie, Bobby, Freddie, Archie, Alfie etc. Personally I would rather give a child the proper name and just use the nickname, hence having a Tobias that we only call Toby. But as its the middle name I suppose it doesn't matter.

Prince Harry is actually called Henry.... Harry is his nickname
