my DH and i finally agreed that we like the name Kai for a boy (this is a major breakthrough), the problem is we want Kai to be his nick name short for something else, but not sure what. Any ideas? Our ideas (which we arent too sure of) were Kaiyan and M'Kai.

My favorite is Kaien and Malachi. I really do not like M'Kai. Good luck agreeing on something!

Why not just use Kai? I like that MUCH better than any of the longer names listed.

I really love Kai on its own!
But, my favorite long name for it would be Malachi, maybe.

I'm all for Malachi or Kaius - I love both of those.

I love Kai! I'd use it as a full name. I also like Kyran, and you could use Kai as a nickname (either spelled Kai or Ky).

I have an ex whose name was Kai - it wasn't a nickname either, just is actual first name...

if you want a name with Kai in it, I like Malakai, or Makai

I would use Kai on its own or Malachi (Malakai)
I wouldn't try making up a name though just so your short form has a long form.
Just use the short form if thats what you love

I like Malakai and Kaiden but i have cousins with those names. I do like Kailyn too but DH says it's too girly. Im not sure why we dont want to use just Kai, maybe because it just feels too short. Kairyn is kinda cute
