I knew a Shannon (girl) in my childhood, as a teenager she started going by Shea and still does as an adult. I've heard it for both girls and boys, and I think it's unique for both. There's just not many Shea's running around. NMS, but I like it.

I assume you're pronouncing it "Shay"? I've seen it said as Shay-uh as well, though. I like the "Shay" pronunciation. I think it's cute, though I'd probably spell Shae.

Yep, pronunciation is Shea. That's the alternative Irish spelling, I prefer to stick with that. The true Irish spelling is a bit more out there - Sé and DH says that nobody will ever pronounce that right here so Shea is the compromise.

Yeah, no one's gonna get Shea from Se. They'll think it's Say or See. My brother's name is Sean, and while none of us thought it was all that rare he still got called "Seen" a lot.

Yeah, my brother's name was Sean too. He got a lot of See-on. Lol. But Sean is also on my list...I think Shea and Sean are too similar ...

I really like it, it doesn't fit in with my naming style but I think it's a nice name!

I really really like Shea but DH vetoed it and also...a name that's not moving off my boys list is Sean and I think Shea and Sean are far too similar. Can't believe I forgot that when I first considered it lol. Back to the drawing board....
